Green Prefect Project Scheme
We live in a “throw away” society where the need for the latest clothing is driven by the latest styles, fads and designer names. For lass unfortunate people around the world second hand clothes which can be re-used can bring a lot of happiness to their lives.
We are in the process of launching The Green Prefect Project thoughout participating UK schools which will form a major part of our concept and infrastucture. The short term aim of this project is to provide a simple system that stimuates the awareness of pupils to become more pro-actively environmental-friendly by adopting actions that exemplify sustainable waste practices within their school enviroment.
Our long term aim is to work with our sponsors, affiliated charites and schools to develop an international programme of “mentoring” where schools in the UK will be involved in helping to build schools in less developed countries and assisting their development by donating not only their shoes and clothes but also their unwanted books and stationery.
Approaching sustainable waste practices by the use of this project will instil an intrinsic value of attainment and increased understanding of social responsibility for the enviroment not only to the local area but also internationally as well.
Pupil participation is the pivotal element of the scheme. By allowing pupils to be involved in the complete process of recycling, recovery and re-use they can plan, make decisions and quantify the outcome of their actions.
As part of the Grovenor Samaritans ethos of reciprocity all UK school bodies will be encouraged to participate in this project by benefiting from collecting Grovenor Samaritans Eco-Points which can then be traded for cash under the scheme.
